Vineyard Notes
Named for the Welsh word meaning “rocky knoll”, Tarren Vineyard is a 30-acre estate acquired in 2018 and planted primarily to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Resting between 500-700 feet with south-facing slopes, stony volcanic soils, and steady coastal winds, it is a site of rare beauty and ideal conditions. Surrounded by some of the valley’s most renowned neighbors, Tarren is already yielding wines of striking energy, structure, and longevity. The first appearance of this vineyard was in 2018 as part of our Estates Pinot Noir, marking what promises to be an enduring legacy in the Eola-Amity Hills. "A refined and handsomely sculpted Pinot, with deep flavors of raspberry and dark plum laced with forest floor and dusky spice tones that gather tension toward fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2035." —Tim Fish
Tasting Notes
Our inaugural bottling from the Eola–Amity Hills estate is a striking introduction to the character of this place. The wine is tightly wound around a bright core of acidity, fruit, and firm yet polished tannin—elements that signal real longevity in the cellar. On the palate, it feels sappy and mouthcoating, leaving a lasting impression that belies its youth. Red raspberry and wild blueberry take the lead, lifted by intriguing accents of ginger root and sassafras. A delicate floral thread of violets adds nuance, while woodsy tannins gently frame the core of fruit. This is a remarkable first expression from our estate, offering both immediate charm and the promise of graceful evolution.
